Libraries

I am obsessed with books and bookshelves.....old, new, big small, messy, neat.... I have been a book lover ever since I can remember. I would buy old books at antique stores in MD and flea markets in Paris and have never thrown a book away (which makes for not so fun times when pack and unpacking!) Perhaps there's something in me that is guilty of not ever finishing a book in high school (which I made up for in my English major in college). Call me old fashion, but I just love the idea of being able to look anything up in a book in my own house. I also like sending cards and writing down lists and ideas on paper rather than the computer.

I have kept a design inspiration folder for when I do start decorating again, and decided to pull a few of my favorite/dream libraries. So here's to someday having an office filled with bookshelves and worn tufted leather chairs!

I too love antique/vintage books; I think they look so cool out on coffee tables and in bookshelves. However, I have just become a lover of books and still struggle to finish quickly. I am always impressed at how many books you go through while I am reading one! I also, will always make list and use calenders. There is something fun about crossing things off and having it all there to see.

This post makes me feel very guilty and sad for all the books I sent to Goodwill (especially our last move). I love the gaudy fab second library.

Ah.. I love books- I know it makes me sound stupid, but just looking at these libraries makes me feel smarter... imagining the possibilities- the criss-cross idea is my favorite!

Brittany- I am such a book nerd too. I love always hearing what you are reading, maybe one of these daysI can read some of them when my life settles down. I have a hrad time ever parting with my books too, it's like they become a part of you. I think we should start a book club, seriously!

I confess that I keep sneaking some of Dads pile of books to Goodwill. I keep the classics though. If I kept every book, we would have to camp out in the back yard, because our house would be filled.
